CYCLING TOURS
Good cycling tours fill up months ahead and the permitted ones go first. Below: the 14 to book early, what each includes and how they differ on the ground.
Spend three days cruising from Cat Ba through quieter Lan Ha and Ha Long Bay areas, kayaking into lagoons, cycling to Viet Hai Village, and trekking Navy Peak. Guides such as Kong, Ninh, Hang, and Jack may lead the trip. Boat lodging is simple, and drinks cost extra.

This seven-day private tour combines Cusco, the Sacred Valley, mountain biking from Malaga Pass, Class II and III rafting, ziplining, jungle trekking, and Machu Picchu. You ride as a passenger behind a trained dirt-bike driver, not as the rider, up Mount Batur at night. Expect a short walk to the summit, sunrise over Lake Batur and Mount Agung, breakfast, and a daylight ride back. Hotel transfers from much of Bali are optional.

Travel from Hanoi to Ba Be National Park for a boat trip on Vietnam’s largest natural freshwater lake, kayaking, swimming, a 15-kilometer trek through Tay villages, and cycling to Hua Ma Cave. The private tour includes transport, meals, a homestay, and two days of outdoor activity.

Join Su Bici for a four-hour German-language e-bike tour from Los Cancajos, limited to six people. Ride quiet roads through Santa Cruz, Las Nieves, coastal viewpoints, forest, and, when selected, the Llano Jable viewpoint of the 2021 Tajogaite volcano.
Pick up a city, trekking, or e-bike at Velo Service Lecce, near the train station, for one to seven days. Helmets, locks, lights, repair gear, luggage storage, and local route advice are included. Choose a trekking bike for longer rides to the coast.
“The e- bike was good, although poorly fitted a tall person, when I asked for some adjustments I was told they weren't possible other than putting the seat up and down. The price in this app was 30euros a day more for the bike hire than the price of hiring 2 bikes directly from the shop. there was no bike path map or suggestions of bike paths given. we were lucky to find some back roads that were great for riding. The riding was great in this area.”
Leave Hanoi at 8:00 AM for a private day in Ninh Binh. Cycle quiet lanes from Tam Coc to Bich Dong Pagoda, eat lunch, then climb nearly 500 steps at Mua Cave for wide views over the rice fields. A guide, private car, bikes, tickets, and lunch are included.
